The coast of the Atlantic in Maine was so peaceful and quiet it made me feel like I was staying on a lake rather than an ocean. Everything about it reminded me of sleepaway camp.

    No. 186 | Density Acclimation | NY/ME

It always ends up being tougher than you anticipate to come back to the pace and density of New York City when you’ve been away for even a short period of time. Especially when you come back from a place where the only thing that blocks your view of the natural landscape is a decorative metal fish.

Our office closed early tonight for the holiday weekend so I headed to Brooklyn Bridge Park for a photo walk. The sky was amazing. I would take so many more photos if I could leave work every day while the sun was still out.

Maine tomorrow, landscapes coming soon. Happy holiday.

    No. 184 | Contrast | CA

I like this image because it’s 75% disturbing moire pattern, and 25% pretty landscape.

This was taken in Pomona, CA at the Morphosis designed Diamond Ranch High School, so that’s a corrugated metal clad shard cutting through this view.

    Shooting in Maine?

I’ll be in Owl’s Head, ME for the holiday weekend and I’m looking to shoot some landscapes or interesting places I can access without ending up dead or in jail.

I’m doing my own research but in case I miss something notable anyone have good suggestions on unique places to shoot while I’m there?

Thanks for the tips! | JC

My good friends Afarin and Amir recently got engaged and asked me to take some portraits to mark the occasion.

These are two tilt-shift outtakes taken in the West Village and from the highline.

    No. 180 | Choppy Waters | NYC

As I’ve mentioned before, I like watching water. I think I probably should just start a fuckyeahwater blog. Or maybe I’ll make a book out of them. Either way, you guys seem to like them and I like making them.

This time it’s the choppy Hudson river taken from a sailboat that a couple of my friends and I got to take out on Friday to watch the sunset. It was a great time and I have some good shots of Manhattan coming out of my editing queue.

    No. 180 | Postcard Shot | NYC

Left work early tonight to go sailing with some friends out of North Cove Marina. Views of NYC and the statue of liberty from the water while having a few beers can never be a bad thing. Such a good Friday night.

Just a preview, plenty more to come.

For some reason, almost every gas station on the East side of the big island had some sort of beat up old Mercedes in it’s lot.

Select images from my waterfall series taken at the World Trade Center Memorial site. The two footprints of the former twin towers are now each the largest man-made waterfalls in North America.

Shot with a 45mm tilt shift and 70-200mm. Full series here: http://jameschororos.4ormat.com/wtc

This shot was taken right after this pilot stopped free falling and regained control of his plane as part of a stunt in the Atlantic City air show. Taken at 200mm.
